It’s been pretty lonely around this firepit, and we are so ready to have you back. We’re taking a limited number of reservations beginning next week. While we always prefer close communion, Rancho is picture perfect for social distancing. We only allow one family or group per house, so you’re never sharing space with someone you don’t know. We have 20 acres for you to enjoy, fields of tall grass and yuccas and wildflowers, big, shaded porches, a saltwater wading pool, hammocks under the loggia, an outdoor bathhouse, and that unobstructed night sky. We’re ready to welcome you when you’re ready to hit the road.
And oh my goodness, we’re so grateful to all of you who have been purchasing gift cards for future stays for your family and friends. Human kindness is indeed, overflowing. Head to our website to share Rancho with someone you love. Bigtime discounts await for future stay gift cards and love bundles for sharing. 📷@jeffwilsonphoto for @texasmonthly
Helluva time to be on the cover of a magazine, but grateful for it nonetheless, @tribeza. Photographed for the style issue by the talented and kind @mattrainwaters in my Austin home on the day @sxsw was cancelled, and here we are nearly two months later. Never did I imagine spending so much time in this pink room.
✨
Reminiscing on the last time I was dolled up ... The girls @sunroom introduced me to @laviestylehouse and these gorgeous caftans and kimonos became my latest pre-quarantine obsession. At this point, wearing them to walk the dog brings me joy. I can’t wait to wear them in real life (whatever that ends up being) and welcome these designers to Rancho to share their collection with you in the fall. (Fingers crossed we’ll be able to gather again.)
✨
Rings part of my collection — 1950’s Zuni from @gypsyhunter and this big, hand-polished slab of Kingman turquoise that I scored from @nancyrose_thegoodstuff @marburgerfarm years ago. 1980’s Navajo cuff part of a husband and wife pair found at an estate sale in Santa Fe. If you feel like shopping for vintage turquoise now, try reaching out to these two weeks inspiring women. And if you’re not really spending, give them a follow and reach out when you’re ready. ✨
Vintage chinese headpiece that I picked up @pickwickvintage in LA. Dreaming of going back with my daughter and vintage shopping partner. Signature frames by @karenwalker. Link in bio for the stories and more photos. Profound thanks for a shining a little bit of light in the darkness, @tribeza. And sending love to my featured friends 💕 @elizabethchapin @theneonjungle @gailchovanatelier @joelmozerskydesign @justine11111
✨
And @kageinaustin, you are an acquaintance, and I think your photo was the best in the book, showing glamour, a loving spirit, connectedness, style. And the image made me miss my littles, who are quite big now. Being with them 24/7 is a gift I did not know I needed.
✨
Dear @suzanne_karotkin You are a wonder. We’re very lucky you’re part of our Austin creative community, bringing your own big dose of magic and style.
💖
We’ll always tell stories of the time that we all stayed home to save each other.
Tonight would have been the second evening of our Feasts in the Field during the Spring Antiques Fair here in Round Top, Texas. We’d be out in the fields collecting awesomeness and returning to Rancho to celebrate, connect, shop some more, and feast together.
Let’s dig deep into our camera rolls, and post some of our favorite moments from past feasts. If you’ve ever sat around our family table, will you share your own memory of the magic?
Tag @ranchopillow and we’ll pick our favorite later this week. The winner gets a complimentary night’s stay in The Teepee to use anytime this year.
Thanks for feasting with us. We’ll be back around that table as soon as we can. Until then, take deep breaths, and look up at the stars tonight. We’ll be with you under the same moon.
My original thought behind the LISTEN artwork on the rooftop of The Bathhouse was simply an invitation for all who visit Rancho — and a reminder for me. Not only to listen to the wind in the trees, the haunting song of a pack of coyotes, the choir of bullfrogs in the grove, the crackle of the campfire, the rain on the tin roof, the music of the night — but an invitation to listen to what’s deep inside you, listen to the thoughts and dreams of your friends and lovers, listen to Mother Earth and her call to pay attention and take care of her.
Today, we’re listening in a whole new way.
We’re more aware of the fragility of this life, the freedom we took for granted, the solid life we built and how it can vanish — even with our eyes wide open, and we’re listening to the absolute truth that we actually really need each other. All of us.
May we all continue to listen to those deepest parts of ourselves — the parts that remind us of our strength and resolve, find what we can do to lift each other up and bring light to the darkness. We’ll be different after this. Keep listening.

Our Feasts in the Field are among our favorite nights all year to gather in community and celebrate the love of all things vintage, eat tremendous food, shop the mercado, laugh, dance, hug, kiss and sing together. And we’re not going to be able to do any of those things this spring. The Round Top Antiques Fair is officially cancelled, and all Rancho Pillow events are also cancelled or postponed until further notice.
Social distancing is definitely not one of our core values, but it will be what keeps us well right now. The growth of this virus will not slow down without our help. We want to be responsible, and do what’s best for our guests. It’s decisions like this that are going to minimize risk, keeping us healthy so we can get through this season of the unknown.
To our sold out Feasts in the Field ticket buyers: we will gladly refund your tickets, or you can also transfer your reservation to our fall Feasts on Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29. Send a note to events@ranchopillow.com and let us know what you’d like to do.
And to our hotel guests, we will be contacting you directly to transfer your show reservation to another date, pending availability. Of course, you are still welcome to escape the city and join us at the Rancho for the dates you have booked. Rigorous hygiene and cleaning protocols are being followed, as always. And if you’re not feeling well, please take care of yourself at home, and come see us another time.
Our crown still shines bright at Rancho, and we’re doing everything we can to shut the other crown down. Keep checking our website and social media for updates. Sending love and neon light from the Rancho. We are all in this together. ❤️
As we’re readying our wardrobe and preparing for our annual sojourn to Nola for Mardi Gras festivities — we’re feeling the spirit of the Round Top Antiques Fair and our spring production of Feasts in the Field just over a month away. We live in kaleidoscopic color at Rancho all year long, and we are jazzed that one of our favorite chefs from New Orleans is coming to help us prepare our long table for a joy-filled celebration, Rancho Pillow-style.
Come feast with James Beard award-winning Justin Devillier — Chef / Owner of the divine @justinenola and legendary @lapetitegrocery and celebrated James Beard semi-finalist Bill Briand — Executive Chef of Fisher's and Playa restaurants, beachside havens of awesomeness in Orange Beach, Alabama. Fresh seafood flying in (and a whole lot more) for two unforgettable nights at the Rancho on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31, 2020. TICKETS are on sale now.
So many surprises to share at this one — the long table is back. The bar is included in your ticket price. And you’ll fall in love with the Mercado makers this spring. Tune in for all the details. Rancho is about experiences. And whether I’m in Round Top or on the road, I love being a part of really good ones. And I’m an eyewear fanatic, so when the dearhearts @krewe asked me to join them in New Orleans for their fête last weekend, I packed a trailer and then booked my ticket.
✨
Transforming the already dreamy poolside lounge at headquarters, building an ofrenda for Día de los Muertos, shooting #ranchopillowstyle portraits in KREWE eyewear, and speaking on an inspired panel with the wise and wonderful @bryanrafanelli @billyreid @stirlingb — magicmakers who obsess on the details like I do.
✨
Details matter, folks. The temples of your eyewear, the buttons on your blazer, the garnish on your plate, the pillows by your pool. 🌈☀️ Thank you, KREWE. And everyone who got down with us in the details. 📷 @camille.lenain @jasonictx
In case you missed it: a gorgeous bazaar representing artisans from 19 countries, magical food stalls courtesy of beautiful chefs and humans, caviar and east coast oysters on the porch shucked by one of the dearest people, gelato carts cruising the pasture, fireside chats and music and laughter late into the night. Two full days and nights guiding both old friends and new ones to a few of my favorite dealers. Even after decades of treasure hunting down Hwy 237, our pop-up champagne tailgates in the fields never get old. Thanks to my team who make the tiniest details matter so much, and everyone who came to share these nights with us. If you haven’t experienced Round Top yet, come do it Rancho Pillow-style. ✨🌈☀️🍾🎪

Come FEAST IN THE FIELD with me at Rancho and shop the Bazaar. Next Monday and Tuesday, we’re opening the gates inviting you into a world of color and wonder.✨
Chefs are preparing dishes for you in bedouin tents and food stalls. Come dine around intimate tables and lounges in the field and shop the world in a bazaar of textiles, fashion, furniture, rugs and other magic from around the globe. Visit @saintelisebazaar to see some highlights of what’s to come. It’s Rancho like you’ve never seen it.✨
Link in bio for tickets. Will you feast with us? (Thanks @market_hill_round_top and @leelee_arts for the sweet illustration.) #roundtopantiqueshow #feastsinthefield #ranchopillow #roundtoptexas
Rancho is a home for a collection of stories and treasures from around the world — and I invite you to join me on some extraordinary travels.
Figurative painter and my comadre @elizabethchapin and I have put together a series of Rancho Pillow-style journies: places, people and cultures that influence and inspire us. We’re a few days into our Color Odyssey in Morocco, and piles of goodness are already en route to Texas. Tomorrow, a crew of design junkies and badass adventuresses are joining us for an unforgettable 10 days.
Rancho Pillow is a hotel, and whatever it wants to become next. I’ll keep listening. Come stay with us at Rancho or join us on the road. Will you?
